H&P Marks a Century in Tulsa
The H&P headquarters celebrated 100 years of H&P in Tulsa with a luncheon, bringing together 280 employees, retirees and community partners to mark the century since the company made Tulsa its home.
The event honored the people who grew H&P from a two-rig operation into a global drilling and technology company.
Walt Helmerich and Bill Payne founded the company in 1920. In 1926, they moved two rigs to Oklahoma to drill the Osage County field and made Tulsa their headquarters at the height of the city’s oil boom. H&P today as a company is 106 years old.
Tulsa has been home ever since. Along the way, the Helmerich’s developed Utica Square, supported the city’s parks, schools and arts, and in 2024 the company moved its headquarters to 222 N. Detroit Ave. in downtown Tulsa.
H&P President and CEO, Trey Adams opened the program by thanking the employees, families and partners who have carried the company through its first hundred years in Tulsa.
The luncheon featured a historical display from the H&P archive, recognition of long-tenured employees and retirees, and a commemorative gift.
The event closed with a look toward H&P’s next century in Tulsa, where the company continues to invest through its downtown headquarters, employee volunteerism and community giving.
