Leading Lady – Anna M., Rig Manager

With determination and expertise, Anna Moffat has risen to become our first female rig manager, earning recognition as our 2025 Women of H&P Leading Lady Award winner.

Her journey illustrates how strategic vision and commitment can create new opportunities in the energy sector and break down stereotypes in a typically male dominated environment.

A Dynamic Journey in Oil and Gas

After studying petroleum geology at the University of Aberdeen, Moffat discovered her calling in the world of oil and gas.

“I had very little knowledge of the oil and gas industry before starting my studies but the more I learned about it, I realised how dynamic and exciting it was,” she said. “I always knew I wanted a job that wasn’t the same every day, so it seemed like the perfect fit for me."

In 2014, she joined KCA Deutag, prior to being acquired by H&P as a graduate well control instructor within the training department.

"I began to teach well control and other fundamental drilling courses to crews globally," she shared. “I was based out of Aberdeen but I had the opportunity to expand my experience by teaching all around the world in places like Dubai, Oman, Saudi Arabia and Brunei.”

In 2021, she transitioned to our North Sea operations as an assistant rig manager for two offshore platforms. In just two years, she progressed to rig manager.

Guiding Aspiring Female Leaders

Moffat has gained the trust of her crews and customers, reflected by the performance of both rigs she manages. However, she acknowledges that her journey was not without challenges.

"For a period of time, I felt that I wasn’t progressing fast enough in my career,” she explained. “But having a mentor in place to speak to about my thoughts and plans allowed me to strategically map out the direction I wanted to go in. Looking back, the knowledge I gained from my time in all the different positions I held has enabled me to take on the role I do today. Every meeting, networking event and position was a learning opportunity I took forward with me.”

For other women looking to become leaders in the industry, she offers this advice:

“There is a noticeable positive trend towards increasing presence and diversity in the room. While I may still occasionally be the only female in some meetings, this is becoming less frequent.

Remember that we are on this journey together. Many women in the energy industry share the same goals and continually drive to see women get a seat at the table. If we work together, we can be a force for change."

Rising Rookie – Lily S., Communication Specialist

Originally joining us as an intern and now a full-time employee, Lily Siemens is our 2025 Woman of H&P Rising Rookie award winner.

As part of our communications team, Siemens specializes in community relations and helps to create meaningful partnerships between our company operations and community needs. She brings fresh perspectives on how we connect with local communities and stakeholders on a global scale.

Supporting the Communities Where We Operate

Siemens started at H&P while balancing her senior year at the University of Oklahoma with a part-time intern role in 2023, where she gained invaluable work experience. She quickly made her mark and officially joined the company in December 2024 after graduating.

Inspired by our community relations program and local philanthropic initiatives in her hometown of Tulsa, Siemens now plays a key role in projects like the United Way campaign and community grants, supporting teams across our global footprint.

“In my job, I see how H&P cares, and I find fulfillment in knowing that my work helps strengthen our impact.” she said. “H&P isn’t just invested in its employees, but also in the places where we operate and reside in as well. From supporting educational programs in STEM subjects, to environmental efforts, to natural disaster relief, we demonstrate a commitment to making positive contributions and leaving a lasting legacy.”

Embracing Opportunities and Professional Growth

Siemens credits the nurturing and encouraging environment at H&P as being instrumental in her success, with colleagues and leaders cheering her on.

“I absolutely love my job — and I feel lucky I can say that,” she shared. “I’ve had the opportunity to connect with leaders early on in my career and with the nature of my role, I get to network and learn from professionals all around the world.”

Siemens encourages new starters to embrace every opportunity and to say yes. Her advice? “Don’t be afraid to ask questions and always keep learning.”

A pivotal moment during her internship was traveling to Texas for a press release event.

“Although not knowing much about the media at the time, being included in the event was when I knew that H&P really cared about my professional development. I gained real-world insights on how a critical communications process works and I’m now able to take that with me as I grow in my career,” Siemens said.

As our Rising Rookie, Siemen's journey is just beginning, and we will definitely be watching this space to see how far she goes.

Humble Heroine – Jaymie B., Enterprise Asset Coordinator

It’s the quiet dedication of individuals like Jaymie Basse that truly keeps operations running smoothly. Recently honored with the Humble Heroine Award by Women of H&P, Jaymie’s journey reflects not just personal achievement, but the evolution of women’s roles in a traditionally male-dominated field.

A Legacy of Humble Excellence

Basse’s path to H&P was illuminated by family legacy.

“I wanted to pursue a career in the oil and gas industry because that's what my mom and grandmother's career field was also,” she explained. “Watching them be one of the few women in the industry at the time and witnessing their achievements was truly inspiring.

”As an enterprise asset management coordinator at H&P for more than seven years, Jaymie has found her calling in creating efficiency and supporting her colleagues. Her motivation speaks volumes about her character.

“Honestly my main motivation is getting people what they need to do their jobs as quickly and efficiently as possible,” she said. “I hope that the help I provide makes other’s jobs easier and that alone makes me really happy.” This selfless approach to excellence is precisely what the Humble Heroine award recognizes — those who contribute tremendously without seeking the spotlight.

The supportive culture at H&P has been instrumental in her growth.

“The continued confidence and comradery amongst my peers helps me strive for success every day,” she shared. “On days when I don't believe in myself they all have my back. Also having a group like the Women of H&P is wonderful, encouraging, and I’m very thankful I get to be among such inspiring women.”

Empowering Progress for Women in our Industry

Looking back at industry changes, Basse sees tremendous progress.

“In the 1980s and 1990s when my mom was in the industry as a graphic designer, it was a typically male dominated environment, more so than it is today, and she was very much in the minority,” she said. “Today I see inspiring women achieving their goals in every job role possible. I wish all the females who paved the way for us could see how far we’ve come.”

For women just beginning their careers at H&P, Basse offers heartfelt guidance.

“Build a strong network, seek mentorship, embrace challenges and really appreciate all of the support around you. Take every opportunity that comes your way. And you never know, one day, the next generation could follow in our footsteps too.”

Lifelong Learner – Shaima Al-Lawati, Environment Advisor & Oman Health Ambassador

Recognized for demonstrating continuous growth and development by her peers and leadership, Shaima Al-Lawati is our 2025 Women of H&P Lifelong Learner award winner.

Al-Lawati journey in the oil and gas industry began when she graduated with a degree in petroleum and natural gas engineering from Sultan Qaboos University in Oman. She joined KCA Deutag more than 14 years ago, prior to the recent acquisition by H&P.

She became interested in learning more about the energy industry, with a particular focus on workplace safety and protecting people and the environment. This sparked a desire to take significant strides in a field that continues to evolve.

And as the first woman in our Oman operations to earn the National Examination Board in Occupational Safety and Health (NEBOSH) environmental certificate she has done just that.

Lifelong Learning in a Career Dedicated to Health and Safety

Now an environmental advisor working across our Oman operations, she has developed vast expertise in ensuring workplace safety, compliance, and promoting a culture of health and safety.

Reflecting on her career, Al-Lawati emphasized the importance of continuous learning.

"Never stop learning, speak to people, ask questions, and listen. Learning isn’t just about educational courses and accreditation; it’s also about seeing things from different angles. From operators to toolpushers, mechanics to graduates you can pick up new knowledge from everyone you engage with. Join professional groups, attend conferences and share ideas with one another too," she advised.

A Role Model in the Workplace

Al-Lawati champions the positive trends emerging for women in the industry. She notes the growing recognition of the importance of support in the workplace, particularly prevalent for women.

“Many women are advocating for mental health awareness, work-life balance and better support systems at work. It’s so refreshing to see more investment in wellness programs, counselling services, and flexible schedules, making it easier for women to thrive both personally and professionally. It creates space for us to grow, evolve and learn."

Having that space herself has enabled her to enhance her own learning, paving the way for the many achievements she’s marked so far in her career.

Al-Lawati success is a testament to the power of continuous learning and the impact of a supportive work environment. Her dedication to safety, proactive approach to professional development, and her advocacy for mental health and work-life balance make her a true role model for us all.
